Our vision
DefenseWise® was founded to support the defense, dual-use, and civil weapons industries in managing their overall compliance.
We started from a clear observation: despite a particularly strict and complex regulatory framework, these sectors rarely have legal and strategic resources, whether internal or external, that are up to the challenges they face. It is to address this need that we created an independent consulting firm, fully dedicated to these industries.
Building on our respective legal academic background and complementary professional experiences, and eager to put them to the service of the greatest number by supporting industries through the regulations they must comply with, we decided in 2024 to develop a service offering that allows us to support these industries from A to Z (from strategy to implementation, including via training and regulatory monitoring).

Fabio Ferretti di Castelferretto
Co-Founder & Manager
Legal advisor for over 30 years within multinational companies, Fabio has specialized over the years in governance, compliance, and international trade control. During his career, Fabio gained professional experience in the United States, which allowed him to acquire specific legal knowledge. In 2003, he founded an independent consulting company for various industrial sectors involved in the distribution and export of regulated products. Active in the defense industry since 2008, Fabio is our expert on contracts with the U.S. government and U.S. export control regimes.

Charlotte Villatte
Co-Founder & Manager
Dynamic and versatile legal expert, Charlotte is driven by results and knowledge sharing. She worked for a "Big Four" firm, where she enhanced her skills in teaching and auditing, while diving into ESG and investment funds. Prior to that, Charlotte worked as an in-house legal advisor in the defense and civil weapons industry and was active in public affairs. Charlotte is our expert on EU export compliance and has a particular interest in autonomous and unmanned systems.
